First of all, I want to apologize for taking so long to get my remarks out for the draft that took place almost 2 weeks ago, but in my spare time in the spring I am a softball official so this is my busy time. Well to the Giants draft….

I was pleasantly surprise to see that the Giants picked up the wide receiver from NC State Hakeem Nicks in the first round, and that he was available so late in the first round. Hopefully, he will be good news for Giants fans. It will take a lot to fill the shoes of Burress but with David Tyree coming back this year after being out and adding Nicks to the lineup, Eli should be able to find someone opened :
The other draft picks the Giants picked up are

Second Round
Sintim Outside Linebacker from Virginia
Beatty Offensive Tackle from UCONN (he should get playing time as he played very well in the UCONN games I got to watch.

Third Round
Barden Wide receiver from Cal Poly
Beckum Tight End from Wisky (you’ve got to wonder how healthy this guy is)

Fourth Round
Brown Running Back from NC State (I think this is a very good pickup as he is a decent back and receiver out of the backfield, hopefully he will be able to replace Derrick Ward who we traded to the Bucs)

Fifth Round
Bomar Quarterback from Sam Houston St. (what ????????)

Sixth Round
Wright Defensive Back from New Mexico

Seventh Round
Woodson Defensive Back from South Carolina

Now I don’t understand the reasoning behind these last 2 picks as both of these guys are little. Wright is 5′11” and weighs 198 lbs and Woodson is also 5′11″ and weighs 197 lbs. In my opinion these guys are way to small to play DB in a division so very physical, but I guess time will tell.

As for players the Giants should be going after…
Boldin from the Cards, Holt from the Rams and why did you let Harrison and Galloway get away?? Any of these guys could very easily have filled Burress’s shoes and with less drama.

I will be back to give you my opinion on the Jets and Bills and Pats draft picks.

And now I have to get this off my chest. This goes out to one of the best QBs ever to play this game.
