Handicapping by Liz

I am starting my college best bets with the Smurf field playing Boise State laying 36 points at home against Miami, Ohio. Boise State impressed me last week holding Oregon to no first downs in the first half and only 6 first downs in the entire game. Boise State does have a big game next week against Fresno State which does scare me a bit but Miami, Ohio allowed Kentucky to score 6 unanswered touchdowns, which doesn’t bode well for them. It’s alot of points but Boise State is awesome at home and I don’t see that changing this week. Lay the points.

Next, I like Missouri at home laying 16 1/2 points to Bowling Green. This is Missouri’s home opener and they are 10-2 in home openers winning by an average 25 points. This is Bowling Green’s first road game under their new head coach. Nuf said. Lay the 16 1/2 points as Mizzou starts the season 2-0 ATS.

My third selection goes to South Florida on the road at Western Kentucky laying 24 points. This is the first time that Western Kentucky is hosting a BCS team and are they in for a shock. South Florida behind QB Grothe should control this game from the start as WKU got crushed last week by Tennessee and home or not I don’t see anything different happening this week. Lay the 24 points.

My next pick is Southern Mississippi at home giving Central Florida 14 1/2 points. So. Miss. is the much stronger team here and should have little problem covering this line. Southern Mississippi at home is the call here.

My last best bet will be Pittsburgh on the road giving Buffalo 10 1/2 points. Pitt is considered a contender for the Big East title this year and Buffalo is 4-13 ATS versus the Big East. Pittsburgh will be focused for this game as they did lose at home last year to Bowling Green and just beat Buffalo last year. I will lay the 10 1/2 points here as I believe Pitt will be ready this year for Buffalo.

I have to admit there are quite a few underdogs I like this week but I will only pick my top 4. I like East Carolina getting 6 1/2 from West Virginia. I also like Fresno State getting 8 1/2 from Wisconsin. I think that South Carolina will stay within the 7 points on the road at Georgia. Lastly, I like Washington State at home getting 2 ½ points from Hawaii.

There are also a few games I like but not enough to make them best bets. I will side with USC(-6 1/2) at Ohio State.
Also BYU on the road laying 17 ½ to Tulane. And last but not least I like Air Force on the road getting 3 /12 from Minnesota.
